Welcome to "Founder Diaries" It is my mini blog when I share my thoughts on what it takes to build a business from scratch as a mother, a wife, and a person who truly truly cares where we are all headed as a global community
It's 2pm on a Friday.
I'm sitting in my office contemplating what to eat for lunch.
Suddenly, my mind begins to wander into the territory of intrusive thoughts.
And so begins the deluge of questions arising from fear, uncertainty, lack of sleep, cognitive overload and whatever other baggage I was attempting to carry along with the responsibilities of motherhood, wifehood and building a business.
All these thoughts are coming on the back of a massive breakthrough.
Last night, during a heart-to-heart with my husband I lamented on my current struggles.
The constant trial and error.
The seemingly endless ferris wheel of business improvements.
The to do list that seems to grow every moment.
And the feeling that I am out of my depth.
Without hesitation, Michael began to explain to me that this feeling of "being out of depth" was just simply progress.
It turns out that progress is a windy road with many uphill sections that require growth and adaptation along the way.
Except when you're "in it", it just feels like a grinder.
It's not enough that I've given my time, my brain power, my attention.
No, progress is demanding a pound of flesh and I'm having to learn and grow with no end in sight.
The truth is, progress is uncomfortable.
I once read somewhere that the people who succeed do not do so by being special.
The ones who succeed, do so because they are comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Discipline is destiny and it requires us to undertake uncomfortable change.
And that is where i've landed.
I've spent too much time trying to be special, when what I should've been focused on was normalizing the normalizing feeling of struggle.
Hard ship is universal and in a world that tries to give us bite sizes of success and trivializes hard work, it can be difficult to encounter true genuine hard work.
But I promise you that the things we desire- if they're truly worthwhile all exist on the other side of hard.
Remember this truth as you navigate the treadmill of struggles, uncertainties and uncomfortable growth.
This was a quick letter I wrote to share my struggles. Share this with a friend who is also experiencing the constancy of change and all its agents.
